1. Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile, MBSImP, is an evidenced-based, standardization of the MBS study results in the adult population. MBSImP provides a standardized protocol to profile physiologic impairment of swallow function and to communication MBS study results in a manner that is accurate, specific, consistent, and objective.
2. SPEAK OUT! Is a Parkinson Voice Project speech therapy program that helps people with Parkinson’s, and related diseases, regain and retain their voices, minimize swallowing problems, and stay connected with their families and friends. The SPEAK OUT! program provides research-based medical therapy through engaging activities that help those with Parkinson’s keep up the hard work through the years.
Brittany grew up in Montrose, Colorado. She attended the University of Northern Colorado to earn her undergraduate degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences. She then attended Idaho State University to earn her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Brittany has earned special certificates in the area of instrumental analysis of swallow function, MBSImP, and speech therapy for people living with Parkinson’s disease, SPEAK OUT!, which helps those with PD regain and maintain their speaking and swallowing abilities. Her professional interests include services for adults and in the areas of dysphagia (disordered swallowing), neurological injuries from stroke or brain injury, neurological diseases like Parkinson’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Scleorsis (ALS), as well as cognitive therapy for mild cognitive impairment, age-associated memory impairment, and dementia.
Brittany fell in love and married, Powell native, Levi Asay. They completed their undergraduate and graduate degrees together and in related fields; Levi is an Audiologist and owns Big Horn Basin Hearing and Speech. Brittany’s personal interests surround her family, which include two dogs and cat. Brittany enjoys being outdoors hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. She also enjoys baking, reading, yoga, and visiting her family in Colorado.
