POSITION SUMMARY:

Current Opening: One full-time position (Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Assists the Patient Financial Services(PFS) Director with the daily operations of the PFS Department. Responsible for analyzing revenue cycle work flow processes to identify improvement or efficiency opportunities and implement solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify trends and implement fixes to avoid delays in claims submission and reimbursement.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees.
  • Cross train in various revenue cycle positions to provide coverage when needed.
  • Perform reconciliation of generated claims between the billing system and claims clearinghouse on a daily basis to ensure timely billing of all claims.
  • Analyze third party payers to ensure accurate reimbursement in compliance with contract terms.
  • Assist in ensuring billing system and clearinghouse work queues are worked timely by all staff.
  • Analyze denials for root causes and implement fixes. Ensure timely submission of appeals or documentation requests.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly PFS Task Guide tasks and reporting, and others as requested by PFS Director or CFO.
  • Provide account analysis on accounts as requested by PFS director.
  • Keep current on regulatory requirements and best practices and provide information to the PFS Director, assist with implementation as requested.
  • Work effectively with other departments on problem resolution as related to revenue and reimbursement as requested by PFS Director.
  • Work with outside vendors such as patient financing, collections, claims clearinghouses and affiliated entities to ensure efficient and accurate processes within PFS.
  • Ability to resolve patient complaints or escalate to the appropriate department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Associate degree or higher required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in patient financial services position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skills in using business software applications such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Healthcare System Applications. Demonstrated experience with accounting and financial functions. Minimum of two years of experience required. experience required. Four years of experience preferred. Accounting and financial experience in a hospital or healthcare industry setting preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong working knowledge and skills in essential revenue cycle functions
  • Skills in operation of typical office equipment such as PC’s, printers, terminals, calculator, FAX, Copiers.
  • Knowledge and experience in using, Windows Excel and Word as well as Health Care systems Applications – primary focus on accounting and financial functions.
  • Read, write and comprehend instructions, memos, and correspondence.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both in writing and verbally with peers/management/public.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to problem solve.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly lift or move objects weighing 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
