POSITION SUMMARY:  

Current Opening: One full-time night’s position (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 6:30pm – 6:30am, 12-hour shifts)

Responsible for timely and accurate patient registration. You will also interview patients for all pertinent account information and verify insurance coverage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interview patients at workstation or at bedside to obtain all necessary account information.
  • Answers all in-coming calls and ensures all callers are given accurate information and are referred to the appropriate depart if necessary.
  • Provide exemplary customer service.
  • Obtain copies of insurance cards and verify coverage and obtain pre-certification/authorization.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and professionally with patients and families the payment policy of the hospital
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or General education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous work in the medical field is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong working knowledge and skills in essential bookkeeping functions.
  • Skills in operation of typical office equipment such as P.C’s, printers, terminals, calculator, FAX, Copiers.
  • Knowledge and experience in using, Windows Excel and Word as well as small business application, and Health Care systems Applications – primary focus on accounting and financial functions.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and professionally with patients and families the payment policy of the hospital.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly lift or move objects weighing 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
  • The employee is also subject to exposure to blood and body fluids, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives, exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.
